World War II Begins: The main causes of world war II was the German invasion of Poland on September 1,1939. Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany. In the east, the Japanese attacked and began invading China and Manchuria, and a lot of smaller colonies held by the U.S., British, and the Dutch.
